In 2023, during a very challenging personal period in her life and career Amanda Anisimova decided to take a break from pro tennis declaring an undetermined leave of absence starting May.
Speaking on her Instagram, the former World No. 21 opened up about mental health issues and burnout that she encountered since summer of last year. Tennis tournaments are unbearable for me. At this time, my primary concern is to improve myself mentally and I need to have a rest. After giving everything I had to plough through it, some pampering seems in order.
Anisimová chose the period when she was away in painting to find comfort and emotional release. To strengthen the impact of her creations, she established a website called “AA’s Art for Hope,” donating parts of sales to charities focusing on mental health.

Finally, Anisimova at 22 seems rejuvenated and is looking forward to return back into the tennis arena. Though she took a little time to withdraw, but her strength is evident as within the Australian Open 2024 tournament resulted in sixth Top 20 winning instances.
Considering her glorious comeback to action on the court, Anisimova confessed being happy and stating that “It’s a great feeling; I had so much fun out there today. It was always going to be hard against a top player – but just try enjoying every moment of it.”
After defeating Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova 6-3, 6-4 in a convincing fashion; Anisimova goes forward to the next match against either Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska or Slovenian Tamara Zidansek the winner of their encounter. The former World No. 21, currently ranked No. The number appears primed for a rebound, both on the tennis court and in her ongoing effort to promote mental health through artistic contributions.
