US National Weather Service (NWS) Issues Flash Flood Alert
The attention has been drawn by a flash flood alert on the part of US National Weather Service (NWS) for south-central Texas, including San Antonio and areas in northwestern Atascosa, western Bexar Comal counties sending southeastern Medina. This warning is in effect until at least 5:00am 22 January, authorities can easily change or expand it to cover other areas nearby.
The first threat is about a long period ofheavy rains, which may result in flooding the low-laying communities including those who live near rivers streams and creeks. Populated places that have vulnerable storm water drainage systems may experience flooding, and sites located below major reservoirs or rivers could suffer from flash floods when there are intense downpours of short duration. More particularly, in areas with hilly or mountainous topography saturated by heavy rainfall the possibility of landslides is high.
