Much to everyone’s surprise, the Phoenix Suns pulled off a great comeback by beating Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night with odds of 1-3. With a nerve-racking 1.8 seconds left to the clock, Kevin Durant dropped two free throws that would stick with him on his ribcage like adhesive as he sealed the Suns furious comeback attempt by doing so.

Key Performances

Graydon Allen became the best player in Suns, had nine 3-pointers and scored as many as possible29 points. Durant was in scoring form with 27 points, Devin Booker chipped in 16 points and provided assists at the rate of eleven each to accentuate team effort.

Durant’s Perspective

The interview after the game, Durant revealed his astonishment at how quickly things changed by saying.

I have no idea As usual, I had a clear understanding of the game situation but was somehow lost in this blur. If you will, we were all in a bubble and encased.

He pointed out the Suns’ ability to disrupt the free-flowing nature of King’s offense through closing off gaps with pressure switches among other strategies.

Coach Vogel’s Insights

Frank Vogel, coach of the Suns, said that there were times when his team showed signs of fatigue and proved impossible to motivate. Vogel also brought the unpredictability of current NBA into focus, as he described how Suns changed their approach to a small ball set – five 3-point shooters formed new line up and eventually proved effective in over sealing past deficit.

Critical Moments

With less than eight minutes remaining behind by 21 points, the Suns unleashed a determined rally fuelled with timely three-pointers from Durant and providing steady Tyler Johnson that was enough to tie game.

Thirty seconds left behind, Durant’s free throws finally pulled the Sun’s ahead which was their first lead since scoring at the beginning. The scoring effort, 33-point contribution by De’Aaron Fox for the Kings was not enough to win the game as Durant provided a final coup with last second free throws sealing in victory of suns.

Sabonis’ Triple-Double Streak

The loss did not keep Domantas Sabonis from furthering his amazing season, in which he recorded the 11th triple-double of 21 points, 10 rebound and also scored 5 assists. Sabonis demonstrated consistency in his 23rd game where he scored double figures on at least two statistical parts.

Coach Brown’s Reflections

Kings head coach Mike Brown acknowledged the team’s successful performance in most of the match but admitted a hardship at its end. Brown drew attention to offensive stagnation, turnovers and not getting a better pace formation as the issues that need addressing and learning from.
