The complete ensemble cast of the eagerly anticipated Broadway musical, ‘The Heart of Rock and Roll’, based on legendary tunes by Huey Lewis has been revealed. Leading the musical are Corey Cott of Newsies and McKenzie Kurtz from Wicked playing to center on this delightfully frustrating romantic tale.

The debut, by Huey Lewis and producers Hunter Arnold, Tyler Mitchell and Kayla Greenspan announces an amazing cast that will thrill the audiences on stage. The musical is scheduled to premiere at the James Earl Jones Theatre, which will begin previews on March 29 and then open officially April 22.

Huey Lewis discussed the casting process, emphasizing that actors do a lot to turn this show into reality. He praised the chosen firm, noting that it is unrivaled talent of cast, commending especially energetic chemistry between Corey Cott and McKenzie Kurtz.

The principle cast is joined by some of the major players including Josh Breckenridge (Come From Away) and others, creating a strong ensemble. The group consists of established professionals and newcomers to create a balanced soundscape full with interesting voices, rich interpretations.

The Heart of Rock and Roll, which was set in 1987 with songs such as “Do You Believe in Love,” “Hip to Be Square” , and“If This Is It”, is about Bobbyand Cassandra into late twentieson the brink of their fate. The film is presented with a timeless music that rounds off the story, making it nostalgic yet contemporary.

Under the direction of Jonathan A. Abrams, Brian Usifer, Will Van Dyke, Lorin Latarro and Gordon Greenberg as creative master – all four are in harmony with music storytelling choreography on their stage! The stage features an impressive creative team consisting of Derek McLane (Scenic Designer), Jen Caprio (Costume Designer), Japhy Weideman, John Shivers (Sound Designer), and Nikiya Mathis (Hair, Wig, and Makeup Designer).
