As the clock ticks down to 2024, Toronto plans its biggest New Year’s Eve party. They will have amazing fireworks and music that go together for everyone coming in the new year. “Canada’s biggest fireworks show” is what it’s called. This 10-minute amazing light show can be watched from home or at spots around a city harbor with inside view of the night sky, enjoyed by everyone through live video on internet or in person there.
Mayor Olivia Chow was excited to celebrate her first New Year’s Eve, inviting everyone to enjoy the amazing show that marks the end of a big year for both her and Toronto’s different people. The festivities are slated to commence at 11:6:30 pm, making a memorable time for everyone.
Fireworks Locations
To make sure everyone can join in, the city’s Culture YouTube channel will have American Sign Language (ASL) and closed captions on its live webcast. This includes people who need help hearing or reading. The places marked for watching the fireworks are special spots like Sherbourne Common in Toronto, Music Garden and Harbour Square Park. Other sites include Sugar Beach Park, Little Norway Park, HTO Park and Harbour front Centre too.
To make it more fun, there will be short shows that start at 10 in the evening on the waterfront area. Famous Toronto disc jockeys Sofia Fly and Cozmic Cat, along with dance acts made in collaboration with the Dance Together Festival are guaranteed to keep the mood lively and joyful.
However, attendees should be aware of road closures during the New Year’s fireworks, including eastbound traffic on Queens Quay West and Bay Street from Lake Shore Boulevard West to Queens Quay West. In an effort to encourage the use of public transit, the city is offering free service on GO and TTC Transit from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m on December 31 New Year night. Travelers using these services during this time will not need to tap their cards.
For those opting to celebrate away from the waterfront, the city has organized additional events. Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square will feature an open skating rink until 10 p.m., complemented by colorful holiday installations for the Cavalcade of Lights. Meanwhile, the Distillery Historic District will host a New Year’s Eve celebration with live musical performances, DJ Clymaxxx, and midnight Trinity Square Fireworks. Admission is free to the Winter Village until 4 p.m., with tickets required after that time.
