UAE Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh to the UN said earlier that the purpose of the resolution is simple. It is a response to the catastrophic humanitarian situation facing the Palestinian people, who are on the front line of this war. Also protecting those seeking to deliver life-saving assistance. Also calling for the urgent release of hostages and the delivery of relief supplies. Provide humanitarian assistance to meet their medical needs.
Nusseibeh said the 15 council members held extensive negotiations to find a wording that took into account all concerns and they didn’t reject this resolution ” when people need more than expectations.
The vote was particularly notable because, since October 7, several Security Council resolutions related to the conflict have not passed because of vetoes by the permanent members. World leaders and observers put a question mark on the effectiveness of the Security Council.
Since October 7, the Israeli army has launched a devastating war in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 20,057 deaths and 53,320 injuries, most of them children and women. This caused massive damage and triggered a humanitarian disaster.
