Match Report Pakistan vs Australia

At the start of the first test match between Pakistan and Australia, David Warner attacked Pakistan’s leading bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, as he conceded more than 30 runs in his initial four overs. While on the other hand, Usman Khawaja was playing little bit defensive cricket.

Both completed their century stand, and the first wicket fell at 126 runs in 29.4 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi took the first wicket of Usman Khawaja as he fell short of his fifty. He scored 41 runs off 98 deliveries.

Marnus Labuschagne came on the crease and started to build his inning but lost his wicket to Faheem Ashraf’s incoming delivery. He got LBW at 16 of 25 deliveries. Australia was 159-2.

Then Steven Smith took charge, showed some fight, and played perfect shots. On the other hand, Warner kept on playing attacking cricket. Smith caught out to Sarfaraz Ahmed of debutant Khurram Shahzad’s outstanding out-swinging delivery at 238-3.

Travis Head played fast as he scored a quick 40 runs off 53 balls, just falling short of fifty in the 73rd over and losing his wicket to another debutant, Aamer Jamal. He was caught at short 3rd man by Salman Ali Agha. Australia crossed the 300 mark at his departure, as they were at 304-4.

On the other hand, David Warner was unbeaten and completed his 150 runs. Then short, after almost three overs, when Australia were at 321-4, Aamer Jamal got his big wicket. Warner slogs the bad ball straight into the hands of Pakistan’s opener Imam-ul-Haq. Now, the equation is 321 for five down.

Two new Batsmen, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey, take charge. A unique ball was available after 80 overs. Shaheen Afridi was returned to attack by Pakistan’s new captain, Shan Masood. He bowled the three balls with the old ball and then took the new one. Pakistan brought his other attack bowler, Khurram Shahzad. Both bowlers bowled exceptionally well. Khurram Shahzad bowled an out-swinging delivery to Mitchell Marsh as he got lucky.

Pakistan could not bowl as well as expected but made some recovery in the last session of day one of Pak vs Aus; Aamar Jamal took two wickets, just conceding 63 runs in 12 overs. Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Khurram Shahzad took one each.

Faheem Ashraf, the Pakistani all-rounder, bowled some excellent overs but was rewarded with only one wicket. 85 Overs, five short of 90 overs were bowled on the first day of the Perth test, Australia vs Pakistan test series 2023/24. Pakistan will try to restrict Australia under 400.

They need to change their attacking strategy against the Aussies. They are well aware of the conditions as this is their home series.

This test match between Australia and Pakistan is pivotal for both teams as Pakistan is leading the points table of the test championship. Pakistan have played exceptionally well to outplay Australia in their home condition to secure their first position on the Test Championship points table.

All eyes are on day 2 of the Australia vs Pakistan test series. Will Pakistan be able to restrict Australia Under 400 runs, or can Australia put 450 plus runs on board?
